Orange Sky Month

This month is our time to help this incredible local charity.

We are so fantastically blessed to live in this place where we can work hard, go home to a full belly, a can or two of Newstead and sneak into a warm bed. The unfortunate reality is that this is not the case for many people, even within the borders of our own community.

Earlier this year, my old man and I spoke at a Family Business lunch. At that occasion, the lads from Orange Sky also had a few things to say. It had been such a very long time since I was so moved; moved by the plight of people just next door, moved by the empathy and innovation of a couple of big-hearted kids and moved to actually do something about it.

Orange Sky is a non-profit organisation that provides free laundry and shower services to people experiencing homelessness across Australia.

This month is our time to help this incredible local (we even went to the same school) charity.

This is where we need your help!

Starting this Friday, 15 November and every Friday up to and including 6 December  – if you come down to Newstead Brewing Co, Milton for a beer after 3pm, we’re turning over 1 of our taps and 100% of the money you spend on that beer to Orange Sky.

These guys are making a huge impact on our community, but this will only work through charitable giving of people just like you (not just like you, but actually YOU).

I IMPLORE YOU, DRINK GENEROUSLY! And to keep you drinking generously, each and every karma beer purchase will ensure that you’re in with a chance of winning a money-can’t-buy Newstead Brewing Co experience for you and three mates worth $200!

Each week, thousands of volunteers give their time to help positively connect some of the 116,000 Australians doing it tough. Orange Sky’s focus is on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or feel disconnected from our community.

You’ll spot some orange chairs at the Milton venue, as well as some washing lines and machines. The chairs are the same chairs that upon which, Orange Sky volunteers have to date provided nearly 200,000 hours of genuine and non-judgemental conversation.

Those that donate their own time to the cause are not social workers or experts on homelessness – they are, quote; simply empathetic listeners and great conversationalists.

Orange Sky’s mission is to positively connect communities through free laundry, warm showers and genuine conversation.
