WE HAVE A THIRST FOR GOOD BEER & KNOWLEDGE
Our ANZACs are a brave, resilient, fair and good humoured lot. Fighting for the underdog and standing united against inequality and injustice. Mates, through and through.
What started as an early 1900s ad campaign for the tram to the glamorous (it was at the time, we promise) Fortitude Valley, the two finger salute became an iconic Brisbane story and a very Aussie way of sticking it to the man. In Brissie, during WWII, that “man” was arrogance, inequality, and discrimination.
With over 80,000 US soldiers based in Brisbane, who were better paid, got better rations and far better treatment in pubs, our diggers were fed up. So in true Aussie humour, they told their superiors “it’s just Two To The Valley Sir” with a solid two finger salute. Ya can’t get in trouble for telling ‘em to go get glamorous, now can ya?
10 years ago, when Brisbane craft beer was a very unknown world; we built a little craft beer brewery. In that brewery we made a WC IPA. A cracking American style IPA that was craft as hell and one massive middle finger to corporate overlords and the monopolisation of the beer market.
It’s just “Two To The Valley”. One big salute to our diggers, our history and craft beers future in an ever corporate dominant world.
Lest we forget.
